In a repeat performance of May, the Toyota Camry was once again the best-selling midsize sedan in June with sales of 35,870 units. The rest of the top three from May remained intact, with Honda Accord sitting in second place at 31,677 units and Nissan Altima in third at 26,904 units.
The Ford Fusion was again the fourth best-selling midsizer in June, with sales of 24,313 units. The Chevrolet Malibu finished fifth with 21,288 units sold, ahead of the Hyundai Sonata’s 19,454 sales. Despite that victory, the Malibu, which received an emergency refresh for the 2014 model year, was down significantly from the 31,402 units it sold the same month last year. Kia moved 14,599 Optima sedans off dealer lots in June for a seventh-place finish.
The Chrysler 200 was eighth with sales of 12,360 units, sandwiching the Volkswagen Passat (10,874 units) between its platform-mate, the Dodge Avenger (7582 units). Though the Passat beat the Avenger in June, the Dodge-branded sedan leads in year-to-date sales at 61,018 units versus the VW’s 56,119 units. The Subaru Legacy was 11th with 4363 sales, while the new Mazda6 again found itself in last place, but with far more midsize sedans sold than during May 2012.
