10. Kia Borrego to return as 2011 Model?

Americans may love big, brash SUVs, but Kia couldn't have picked a worse time to launch its lumbering, thirsty Borrego SUV than the summer of 2008. After a little more than a full year on the market, Kia pulled the model from the U.S., although it appeared earlier this year the Borrego would make a comeback for 2011. That, however, isn't the case, as the company confirmed last month both the Borrego and Rondo are no-shows in the U.S. market for 2011.

9. 2011 Chrysler 300 Spotted Completely Undisguised

Chrysler’s been feverishly refreshing every model in its tired lineup for the 2011 model year. Last to be officially unveiled, Chrysler’s halo 300 sedan was spotted completely uncovered roughly a full month earlier than the automaker intended. Of course, the automaker has since released a full array of official PR shots prior to the 300's official market launch.

The game of spying future vehicles on test runs often leads photographers all around the world. We, on the other hand were lucky enough to have a prototype Hyundai Elantra parked right outside our offices long enough to snap a few pictures and get a decent look at what we later saw unveiled at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.

7. Confirmed! Lexus SC 430 to be Discontinued in July

Early in its lifetime, Lexus' SC430 hardtop convertible found market success, but sales figures have dwindled as the vehicle aged. In 2009, just under 1000 cars were delivered, prompting the automaker to drop the car from its lineup. Those pining for the SC may find comfort in rumors that a replacement, fitted with a hybrid powertrain, may launch in 2014.

6. 2011 Shelby GT350 Ford Mustang Unveiled at Barrett-Jackson

Shelby unleashed its 2011 GT350 Ford Mustang on the first night of the 2010 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Customers wanting the upgraded pony car can simply purchase a new 2011 Mustang GT and have it shipped to Shelby’s facilities for the transformation. The price of a complete car is expected to run owners roughly $65,000.

A sketch found on Porsche Consulting’s website found earlier this year appeared to be a two-door version of the sports car maker’s popular Panamera sedan. We haven't heard much from the company about either this or a rumored convertible Panamera variant, but we can't help but notice we're entering auto show season once again. Stay tuned...

If product planners are curious about public interest in light-duty diesel pickups, let this serve as evidence: despite hailing from 2009, our post on Chrysler apparently scrapping plans for a diesel-powered Ram 1500 was one of our most viewed pieces in 2010. Fuel costs may still have executives wary of pulling the trigger on such a decision, but other reports from early in 2010 suggest such a model may once again be on the table.

3. 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Special Edition Starts at $36,445

Buying a Mitsubishi Evolution with a trick dual-clutch transmission just got a whole lot less expensive for the 2011 model year, thanks to the new Lancer Evolution Special Edition model. Previously restricted to the top-end MR models, the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox -- along with some other content previously restricted to the MR -- was added to the new 2011 SE model, which carried a $36,445 price tag that slotted between the entry level GSR and MR models.
