Although we were pretty sure that they were the real thing, the authenticity of last week’s 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe spy shots has been confirmed. Yes, they’re real. The same images we brought to you last week recently appeared on Hyundai’s Korean-language blog along with two more teaser photos, which confirm that this is Hyundai’s next-gen Genesis Coupe.
While no new images were accidentally unveiled in Hyundai’s blog post, Hyundai did say that the official unveiling of the 2013 Genesis Coupe will be this Sunday at a Korean Formula 1 festival. These official Genesis Coupe shots confirm that the car will be getting a Veloster-style nose, perhaps previewing Hyundai’s new corporate styling direction.
Although details like price and engine options are still up in the air at this point, we’re expecting the new Genesis Coupe to carry-over with direct-injected versions of the current 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4, and 3.8-liter V-6. Sadly a 5.0-liter V-8 Genesis Coupe like the one found in the Rhys Millen Racing RM500 Genesis Coupe from SEMA doesn’t seem in the cards…yet.
We hope to have more details for you on the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe early next week before its U.S. debut at the Detroit auto show in January, so stay tuned.
