For all the discussion of CAFE standards, engine downsizing, and geo-political tensions in the Persian Gulf, there's still an argument to be made for this being the golden age of performance. Perhaps one of the best examples of this is the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Few cars can compete with it at any price, let alone near its $55,895 starting price.
Motor Trend puts the 580-horsepower musclecar to the test at the Inde Motorsports park in Arizona, as well as giving veteran hot shoe Randy Pobst some time behind the wheel to gain his impressions of the super-Camaro. In addition to a four second flat 0-60 time and low 12-second quarter mile, Chevrolet claims 1.0 g of lateral acceleration for the car. Does the car deliver? You'll have to watch to find out.
