Tell Us: Which Porsche Cayenne Variant Would You Drive?

As if car buyers weren't already faced with enough choices, Porsche has just released details on yet another variant of its best-selling Cayenne SUV, a six-cylinder diesel. With six different models including the new 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel, which would you choose?

With its 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 cranking out 240 hp and 406 lb-ft, Porsche claims the Cayenne Diesel will reach 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Sure, it's not as racy as the Turbo, but most buyers don’t drive an SUV to race it, but to haul cargo and passengers, or to tow. With big SUVs, though, usually comes small mpgs. That's not the case with the Diesel, though, which is estimated to get 19/29 mpg city/highway, compared to the 16/23 mpg of the Cayenne V-6 with an automatic and the 20/24 mpg of the Cayenne S Hybrid.

"The Cayenne Diesel's hydraulic-boosted variable-rate steering is wonderfully communicative with just the right effort and precision for good lane control. The steering column is dead quiet and conveys a solid structural feel," we write in our Cayenne Diesel First Drive. "It's the first road-going Porsche ever to use diesel power and we don't think it's the last. In fact, the Cayenne Diesel makes so much darn sense that we wonder how long it will be before the engine finds its way into the Panamera."

The  Cayenne Diesel, which carries a base price of $56,725, is also the second-most-affordable model in the range. What do you think: Is the Porsche Cayenne the best Cayenne variant or would you pick another version of the SUV? Vote in the poll below and don't forget to read the full review here.

I am thinking of canceling my BRZ order and get the Cayenne diesel. No apple vs. orange argument sh.t as those car are just toys. The only other variant I may prefer is the Cajun/Macan two door diesel but I don't even know it will ever come for sure. I wish Porsche cough off an image of the Macan really soon. Really if you're gonna make it why want to wait and surprise an angry customer who just bought something else?!
