When we think of woody wagons, we think of SoCal, surfing, the Beach Boys, and hot-rodded wagons. We don't, however, think of minicars, making this one-off Chevrolet Spark, commissioned by the Chevy marketing folks over in the U.K., quite the oddity.
Apparently, the Spark Woody is the latest of a series of so-called Art Sparks commissioned by Chevrolet's European outpost. This particular example debuted at the annual Boardmasters surfing festival in Newquay, England. Predictably, the wood framing on the doors and rear quarter panels isn't actually timber, but a custom vinyl wrap. The Spark Woody also sports a custom surfboard rack, a scaled-down longboard built by Escape Surfboards, and whitewall tires.
The Spark Woody, along with the other Art Sparks, will reportedly make their way to Paris this September to be present at the final round of the Young? Creative? Chevrolet! art contest, and may also appear at the 2010 Paris Mow Show. Thankfully, other Sparks, including one transformed into a giant LP turntable, are a little more imaginative...
Here's hoping that consumers here in the U.S. don't adopt the woodgrain craze when the Spark makes its way stateside.
