Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder Revealed at Pebble Beach

The Spyker marque may not be as familiar to supercar enthusiasts as, say, Lamborghini, but it doesn’t mean the cars it produces aren’t any less incredible. The Dutch company’s latest creation--the C8 Aileron Spyder--was unveiled in Monterey, California, this past weekend.

Although it replaces the fixed roof with a folding top, the C8 Aileron Spyder shares most of its components with the standard C8 Aileron coupe. As a result, you’ll find a 4.2-liter, 400-hp Audi V-8 in back, coupled with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Spyker claims this powertrain is enough to blast it from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

The interior is just as captivating, as it’s trimmed in vast quantities of quilted leather and engine-turned aluminum accents.

Spkyer hasn’t released pricing for the C8 Aileron Spyder just yet, but rest assured, the price tag won’t be cheap. That won’t hurt sales, though--a company representative described the car as an “and” car, meaning clientele will likely buy an Aston Martin and a Spyker without debating between the two…
