Europeans on holiday in the United States have their pick of relaxing summer destinations. In mid-August, however, the last place you might expect to see vacationers from the Continent, looking to escape the heat, is the rural Arizona desert. But that's where the sleuths at Motor Trend captured images of what looks to be an updated Ford Mondeo undergoing hot-weather testing.
This tester is likely the refreshed Mondeo, set to show its (full) face at the Paris Motor Show in September. This camouflaged example's front end is covered in black, but the rear end doesn't show much change over the current model.
The current Mondeo has been on sale in Europe for nearly three years, while American consumers have soldiered on with the Fusion as a midsize offering. We recently learned that the next-gen Fusion and Mondeo will share mechanicals, though engine choices will likely vary around the world.
