Summer is coming in hot so you know what that means? The weather’s nice and more manufacturers are taking their cars for testing at the Nürburgring. Earlier today, we saw spy photos of Ford testing a mysterious Mustang Shelby GT500. Now we have more spy photos courtesy of our friends at Motor Trend of Audi testing the S7 around the famed Nürburgring.
The Audi S7 spied here completely lacks camouflage so we can get a great idea of what the production version will look like. At first glance, the S7 is almost indistinguishable from its svelte A7 cousin, especially since this S7 tester lacks badging. In front, the only difference between the S7 and A7 is in its lower air intakes. On the A7, the lower air intakes feature an extension of Audi’s straked grille. On the S7 though, the lower air intakes feature a honeycomb grille covering that gives the S7 a little-bit more aggressive front fascia. Around back the only distinguishable feature between the A7 and the S7 is that the A7 has dual exhausts, while the S7 features a sportier set of four tailpipes.
While we don’t yet know the full details behind the Audi S7, we do expect it to have Audi’s all-wheel drive Quattro system. It's also expected that the S7 will get a 4.0-liter twin-turbo 450-hp V8 that will start to proliferate across Audi's S lineup. The S7 is likely doing some last-minute chassis and suspension tuning at the Nürburgring before it’s expected to make its international debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Make sure to check out all the shots of the S7 over at Motor Trend.
