Sneak Peek: 2013 Buick Enclave Interior

We knew it was just a matter of time before Buick’s version of the Lambda fullsize crossover got a mid-cycle nip and tuck. Why so sure? The wraps were just taken off its flannel-wearing sibling, the GMC Acadia. Already considered by many to be the best-looking of the Lambda triplets, the changes are likely to be less extensive than the fairly comprehensive nosejob given to the Acadia.

So what can we expect in terms of changes for the 2013 Enclave? If the Acadia is any indication, minimal mechanical changes. The addition of the Intellilink system is a given, and likely higher-quality interior materials. The former is obvious by the prominent and clear lighting of the center console, and the multi-function screen, which indicates the availability of GM’s Sync-figher.

The arched-top center stack returns, but this time with a continuous chrome surround, as opposed to just the top-arch accent piece on the current models. And through some lightening tricks on the teaser photo, it appears the steering wheel may be going from the current four-spoke style to a three-spoke, although that guess is speculation, as enough of the design is carefully obscured to prevent a definitive judgment.

Perhaps the most noticeable change is to the climate control,  umm…controls. Gone are the flat-faced buttons and center LED display of the current model, and in its place are three knobs, accented by some auxiliary buttons. The center knob controls fan speed, with the outer knobs controlling temperature for the driver and front passenger, respectively. And although we first overlooked it, thinking it was simply a reflection, it appears the sweeping left-to-right arc across the top of the dashboard is a blue ambient accent lighting strip that looks as if it goes all the way from the trailing door edge of each front door across the top of the dashboard to the other side.
