For fans of Chevrolet's plastic wonder, we have not one, but two videos discussing the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7. In the first, the WOT crew sits down with GM president Mark Reuss to talk about the latest generation of the America's everyman supercar, and the second, Jessi Lang straps the C7 to K&N's dyno to see how much the LT1 direct-injected 6.2-liter V-8 puts to the pavement.
We also get up-close with the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo, and legendary Porsche racing legend and vehicle tester Walter Röhrl, Volvo steers a big-rig with a hamster, and our own Chris Nelson gives us his one-minute sum-up on the Fiat 500 Abarth. Watch all these and more below!
There are a few races that need no further explanation other than their title. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is among them. Simply put, it’s one of the most grueling motorsports challenges putting state-of-the-art engineering to the test. But over the decades that the race has been run, one component has remained critical to teams’ success: Tires. This 15-minute mini-documentary produced by Michelin shows the company’s involvement with Audi’s Le Mans team, and gives a unique insight into what it takes to win one of the world’s most famous motorsports competitions.
On this episode of the World’s Fastest Car Show, Justin Bell takes a hybrid to a couple unlikely places: to the dirt and then to the track. But he’s not driving just any hybrid; Bell is driving the sporty 2013 Lexus CT F Sport.
Karl Abarth is that guy you wish you could be. He was an Austrian who raced motorcycles before taking Italian cars and turning them into racing cars back in the early 1960s. Successful racing cars, too. So successful that the Italians fell in love with Abarth and made him one of their own. Now his name is synonymous with Italy and one Italian automaker in particular—Fiat.
After Volvo Trucks president Claes Nilsson stood on a truck suspended above a Swedish port, the company has performed another impressive stunt to promote the Volvo FMX truck line. In this case, a six-ounce hamster named Charlie drives a truck to the top of a disused Spanish quarry.
For months, GM kept mum on the official horsepower and torque ratings for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The automaker has since revealed official figures of 455 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, or 460 hp and 465 lb-ft with the Z51 Performance package. On this episode of The J Turn, host Jessi Lang puts those numbers to the test on the dyno.
Carlos Lago heads to Germany on this week’s episode of Ignition to drive the latest version of what’s arguably the most iconic German car of all-time: the Porsche 911 Turbo. While in Germany, Lago meets up with legend Walter Röhrl, and takes the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S out on a race track.
Appearing as a special guest on this week’s episode of Wide Open Throttle, GM president of North America Mark Reuss dropped by Motor Trend headquarters in a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible to discuss future products as well Camaro variants including the ZL1 and Z/28.
