Things are looking good for Red Bull Racing this year. The team recently showed off its RB6 Formula 1 car in Valencia, Spain and word on the street is Sebastian Vettel is favored as a driver's championship contender this year.
As Vettel and team chief technical officer Adrian Newey explains, the car is an "evolution" of the surprisingly quick RB5 that set the pace during the latter part of the 2009 season. Vettel finished second to Jenson Button and together with teammate Mark Webber, is hoping to ruffle more than a few feathers in the Formula 1 paddock.
The more evolved RB6 is highlighted by a double diffuser and shark fin-like engine cover on its exterior, and of course, a larger fuel tank under the sculpted carbon fiber body. FIA 2010 rules eliminate any refueling pit stops during a race, making aerodynamic tuning all the more important. Also new this year are staggered tires which have been taken into account when creating every aspect of the RB6.
