For the third year in a row, Rolls-Royce saw record sales, with 3575 vehicles sold last year – the most in the automaker’s 108-year history. The high sales keep the British automaker above its peers in the ultra-luxury market with selling prices above $265,000 (about 200,000 euros).

Each major global region saw sales increase in 2012 from the previous year, and Rolls-Royce says bespoke personalization is at its highest level ever. In the Middle East, Rolls-Royce sales increased 26 percent with sales in Saudi Arabia up 63 percent; mainland European sales rose 21 percent with German sales up 15 percent; and in the Asia-Pacific region sales were up 18 percent. China and the U.S. continue to be the automaker’s two largest markets with U.S. sales surpassing China to regain the top spot. With an expansion into new markets in 2012, including Latin America, Rolls-Royce vehicles are now sold in more than 40 countries.

“I am delighted to announce our sales for 2012 and to celebrate our 10th anniversary with an historic record result," said Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, in a release. "We had an outstanding year in spite of the challenges we faced, and Rolls-Royce now leads the ultra-luxury market by some considerable margin.”

Rolls-Royce opened thirty new or refurbished dealerships last year, bringing the number up to more than 100 worldwide for the first time. Earlier this month, the automaker celebrated 10 years at its Goodwood manufacturing plant where all Rolls-Royce models are built including Phantom, Phantom Extended Wheelbase, Phantom Drophead Coupe, and Phantom Coupe as well as the smaller Ghost and Ghost Extended Wheelbase models.

The Goodwood plant will be expanded this year to meet the demand of bespoke Ghost and Phantoms.
