The Problem: The floor mats in certain 2014 Subaru Foresters could potentially curl and interfere with the driver's operation of the pedals. If the pedals are blocked, the driver may not be able to control the vehicle properly, increasing the chance for a crash. Because the backing for the carpeted floor mats may have not been manufactured correctly, the mats could curl when exposed to heat.
The Fix: Starting at the end of this month, Subaru will send owners an interim notification about the curling mats. Dealers will the replace each of the Forester's four carpeted floor mats with new mats that were manufactured correctly. Owners can contact Subaru for more information at 1-800-782-2783 regarding campaign number WQH-44.
Number of Vehicles Affected: A total of 10,137 model year 2014 Subaru Forester crossovers that were manufactured from January to March of 2013.
