The Problem: Mitsubishi is recalling 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport compact SUVs because of a defect with the panoramic glass roof. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some Outlander Sports equipped with the optional panoramic glass roof may have reduced adhesion because of the possibility that primer was not applied before the adhesive. This could cause the glass roof to detach from the vehicle at speed.

The Fix: Mitsubishi is notifying owners of the problem and dealers will inspect the glass roof. If the inspection finds that primer was not present in the installation, the dealer will reinstall the glass properly with no charge to the owner.

Number of Vehicles Affected: The recall affects a total of 3,181 Outlander Sports manufactured between August 26, 2010 and March 29, 2011, 2,802 of which are in the U.S.

This is not the first recall for the Outlander Sport. Earlier this year, 4,539 Outlander Sports were recalled for various issues including defects with brake lights and fuel sending units.
