Two automakers have announced recalls for very different turbocharged vehicles. Porsche will recall turbocharged models of its Cayenne SUV and Panamera sedan, while Nissan plans to recall its Juke compact crossover.

The Problem: A casting defect means the turbine wheel inside the cars' turbochargers could fracture over time. If so, that would reduce the amount of turbocharging and lower engine output. Worse still, if the turbine shaft fractures, it would allow oil to pour into the exhaust, potentially causing exhaust smoke and a fire.

The Fix: Porsche will replace the turbocharger turbine wheels for free starting later this month.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 264 Porsche Panameras, 7 Porsche Cayennes

The Problem: The rear seatback latch striker may not have been correctly welded. This means that in a crash, the rear seatback could come loose, potentially injuring rear passengers.

The Fix: Nissan will replace the rear seatback striker for free starting later this month.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 11,076 Nissan Jukes
