2010-2011 Subaru Legacy, Outback

The Problem: Visibility may become an issue for certain Outback and Legacy models manufactured from January 7, 2010 through May 20, 2011. According to Subaru, windshield wipers could become disabled if certain components inside the wiper motor system overheat.

The Fix: Subaru will start notifying owners in November, and dealers will replace the front wiper motor bottom cover on affected vehicles at no cost to the owner. The recall safety number is WVV-32, and Subaru can also be contacted at 1-800-782-2783.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 195,080

2005-2006 Saab 9-2X, 2003-2008 Subaru Forester, 2002-2007 Subaru Impreza

The Problem: Certain models of the Saab 9-2X, Subaru Forester, and Subaru Impreza manufactured from September 5, 2000 through November 26, 2007 may be at risk of loss of control. Hanger brackets that are exposed to salty and humid conditions, particularly salt on icy roads, may become corroded and cause the front control arms to break.

The Fix: Subaru will begin notifying owners in November, but owners can also call Subaru at 1-800-782-2783. Dealers will either rustproof or replace the front control arms depending on the level of corrosion free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 295,123

2011-2012 Volkswagen Jetta

The Problem: Stainless steel exhaust tips on certain sedan models may extend beyond the original length of the factory-installed exhaust pipe, and it may be possible for someone to accidentally burn themselves by touching it or walk into it with their leg.

The Fix: Owners will be notified in November, and if  necessary, dealers will replace the exhaust tip free of charge. VW can also be reached at 1-800-822-8987.

2007-2008 Kia Sorento

The Problem: The OCS may malfunction and turn off the airbag even if an adult is seated in the passenger seat. The “Passenger Air Bag Off” light will illuminate on the center instrument panel. The passenger will not have the protection of the front airbag in a front end collision due to the OCS misclassification.

The Fix: Kia has already begun the recall under service campaign SC076. Kia will update the OCS programming free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 800-333-4542.

Number of Vehicles Possibly Affected: An estimated 10,631 model year 2007 and 2008 Kia Sorento SUVs manufactured from June 15, 2006 to November 27, 2007.
