Recall Central: 700,000 Honda Fits Recalled Worldwide for Engine Stalling

#Honda, #Fit

Honda’s latest recall surrounds engines installed in 2009-2010 Fit models -- but since the subcompact is sold across the globe, the campaign involves nearly 700,000 cars worldwide.

2009 – 2010 Honda Fit

The Problem: 2009-2010 Fits built with the 1.5-liter I-4 may have lost motion springs in the valvetrain that could wear over time, and potentially bend or break. Should these springs fail, owners may notice excessive noise, stalling, and engine damage.

The Fix: Honda will soon notify owners of affected vehicles to visit a dealership, which will then install new springs free of charge. Owners can visit or call 1-800-999-1009 for additional information.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: The recall covers nearly 700,000 Fit/Jazz models worldwide. Of that total, 122,000 were sold in North America, and 97,201 in the United States.

Still a great manufacturer with quality production, but perhaps we can avoid reflexively calling their engines bullet-proof, as so offer appear in replies.
