Recall Central: 204,000 Honda CR-V, Odyssey, Acura RDX Models

2012-2013 Honda CR-V and Odyssey, 2013 Acura RDX

The Problem: Honda is recalling certain Honda CR-V and Acura RDX crossovers and Honda Odyssey minivans for a potentially faulty brake-shift interlock. In sub-freezing temperatures, the interlock blocking mechanism could become slow and allow drivers to move the gearshift out of park without depressing the brake pedal. If this happens, there is a higher chance of the vehicle rolling away and causing a crash.

The Fix: The automaker will contact owners starting on May 13, 2013 and instruct them to take vehicles to their Honda or Acura dealership. The dealers will install an updated interlock blocker at no charge. Owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 regarding recalls S96 for CR-Vs, S97 for Odysseys, and S98 for RDXs.

Number of Vehicles Affected: A total of 204,194 vehicles that include 2012-2013 Honda CR-V and Odyssey models and 2013 Acura RDX crossovers. Honda has yet to determine the percentage of those vehicles that are affected.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti JX35

The Problem: Certain Pathfinder and JX crossovers could have a front brake torque member that was improperly cast. If this is the case, the member could fail prematurely and crack, due to structural weakness.

The Fix: Starting in early May 2013, Nissan will contact owners and have dealers inspect the torque member. If needed, the dealers will replace them, free of charge. Owners can contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Number of Vehicles Affected: 19,258 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti JX35 models, built between December 3, 2012 and January 29, 2013. 14,168 of the recalled vehicles are Pathfinders, and the remaining 5090 are JX35s.
