Recall Central: 2013 Ford C-Max, 2012-2013 Ford Focus Electric

The Problem: Vehicles equipped with the push-button start system may not sound a chime when the driver’s door is opened and the car is still running or in accessory mode due to an issue with the software. This could cause drivers to exit the car and accidentally leave the vehicle running with the key fob still inside, increasing the risk of vehicle theft.

The Fix: Ford will modify the software at no cost to owners so that opening the driver’s door causes the chime to play.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 23,831 2013 Ford C-Max vehicles and 2012-2013 Ford Focus Electric vehicles, 22,902 of which are in the U.S. and 929 of which are in Canada.
