The Problem: Dodge is recalling some 2013 Durangos because some of them may have been built with the wrong airbag/supplemental restraint system controller. The incorrect controller is intended for five-passenger vehicles, not seven-passenger vehicles, so in the event of a crash the side airbags behind the second row may not inflate. Should this happen, the third-row passengers have an increased risk of injury.
The Fix: Dodge will replace the airbag control modules on the affected vehicles with new ones, which should remedy the problem. The repair will be done free of charge, and Dodge says that the majority of affected vehicles are still on dealer lots, so the company will perform repairs on all inventoried vehicles before selling them. Owners can call Dodge at 1-800-853-1403 for more information.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 1449 2013 Dodge Durangos made between April 11 and July 20, 2012.
