The Real McCoy? Leaked Photos Reportedly Show Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

After a possible specification sheet leaked out on the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0, it was only a matter of time until the floodgates opened. While Porsche has yet to confirm anything, Teamspeed now has leaked images of the limited-edition, 500-horsepower supercar.

The GT3 RS 4.0 is expected to have 500 horsepower coming from a 4.0-liter flat-six, which sends its power through a six-speed manual to the rear wheels. Compared to the normal GT3 RS, there are an extra0.2-liters of displacement, and a 50-horsepower bump. Even when compared to the GT3 RSR racer that the 4.0 is reportedly based off, the RSR 4.0 may still be the more powerful car, as the RSR pumps out only 455 horsepower from its 4.0-liter six-cylinder.

Along withthe power upgrade, the RS 4.0 will also gain a full roll cage, racing buckets, front and rear trunk panels crafted from carbon fiber, and Porsche’s carbon-ceramic brakes as standard equipment. Predictably, it will lose some interior niceties (bye-bye, radio!) and the GT3 RS’ garish graphics package. That said, the extra heft of the RS 4.0’s larger engine may cancel out any weight savings attained by gutting the interior.

Since the 2011 GT3 RS starts at $136,450(including $950 in destination charges), it’s widely expected that the RS 4.0 will be priced in the neighborhood of $185,000 and $200,000.Teamspeedclaims that only 600 of the GT3 RS 4.0 models will be made; production should commence at the close of May, and cars should be delivered to customers in early summer.
