If you're in the market for a stripped-down, street-legal, off-road vehicle ready to take on any terrain, listen up. QT Services just launched its latest beast, the street-legal 300STR, which is capable of almost any terrain you can find.
U.K.-based QT Services bought the rights to produce the off-road Wildcat from Bowler Offroad back in 2007. There were two variations of the vehicle, both strictly meant for off-road driving. Commonly found in off-road races, including the Dakar Rally, the Wildcats weren't legal for on-road driving. Since its purchase, however, QT decided a roadgoing version was the next logical step in pushing the vehicle into the mainstream.
The 4.0-liter V-8 engine is sourced from Rover and pumps out 270 horsepower. Power is delivered to all four corners via a five-speed synchromesh transmission with a two-speed transfer box. The vehicle sprints from 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, and is capable of highway speeds on off-road terrain. Sixteen-inch wheels come fitted with 235/85 all-terrain tires to help the 300STR tackle nearly any challenge.
The Wildcat features long travel shocks, a tubular chassis, and beefed-up drive shafts. However, different from its competition-based siblings, the 300STR feature creature comforts such as air conditioning, Bluetooth, and an iPod dock. Its interior sports a pair of racing seats with five-point harnesses, and lightweight fiberglass was chosen for the body panels, as it is corrosion-resistant and durable.
