If you thought the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG carries a steep price tag, the SLS AMG Black Series takes things a step further. Benz has revealed pricing details on the SLS AMG Black Series, which starts at $276,800 (including $1800 destination). The German automaker has also announced the C63 AMG Edition 507's starting price of $70,925 (including $925 destination).

Add a $2100 gas guzzler tax from the current model, and the 2014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series price jumps to $278,900. For comparison, the 2013 SLS AMG GT starts at just over $200,000, so what exactly do you get for the nearly $80,000 premium? Using technology from the SLS AMG GT3, the Black Series gets a healthy dose of extra power from 563 hp to 622 hp, with 468 lb-ft of torque. The chassis has also been tuned to perform better on the track, complete with an AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension. High-performance ceramic brakes, light-alloy wheels, and upgraded ultra-high performance tires are also in store for this SLS. Thanks to several lightweight components, the Black Series weighs in at a claimed 3616 pounds, achieving a power/weight ratio of 5.81 lb/hp, which means it can be pushed to higher limits compared to the base SLS AMG and SLS AMG GT. Aerodynamic tweaks include a new front splitter, hood and fender vents, side sills, rear skirt and wing.  Mercedes says the special SLS AMG can go from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and will enter production in August.

As for the 2014 C63 AMG Edition 507, the sedan starts at $72,625 and $75,125, respectively, including a $1700 gas guzzler tax like the one on the regular C63. The special edition also gets a power upgrade with 56 more horses more than the C63 Black Series, bringing the 6.2-liter V-8's peak output to 507 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. That power is driven to wheels via a seven-speed automatic, just like the SLS Black Series.  Borrowing tech from the SLS AMAG, Mercedes claims the C63 accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, while top speed is limited to 174 mph. Inside, the C63 is trimmed with Alcantara, and available with three designo packages. Red appointments on dials distinguish this special edition from other C63s. The C63 AMG Edition 507 will hit dealers in July.
