Preview Chevy's Next Super Bowl Ad, Potentially Win $10,000

More people arguably tune into the Super Bowl each year to watch the commercials instead of the game – so much so that the commercials often go viral because of it. For example, last year’s Chrysler “Imported from Detroit” ad currently has over 13 million hits on YouTube, and Volkswagen’s “The Force” Passat commercial currently has over 45 million views. This year, Chevrolet’s looking to get a jump start on the competition by allowing its fans to check out its potential Super Bowl XLVI ads, share them, and even win up to $10,000 as part of its “Chevrolet Route 66” campaign.

The back story? Chevy apparently opened the door to independent film makers around the globe, challenging them to craft 30-second ad spots.  Of the 197 entries Chevy received, the best 35 potential Super Bowl ads were put up on the Route 66 Web page. Of the 35 clips, Chevy will pick just one to air during Super Bowl XLVI.

While viewers won’t have a chance to actually pick which ad Chevy airs during the Super Bowl, fans from Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States will be able to watch, share, and rate the Super Bowl commercial candidates among friends. Those that do so and give Chevrolet the most creative answer to the question, “If you could drive to any destination in your home country, where would you go?” could potentially win $10,000. Second-place winners receive $3500, while the third-place prize awards $1500.

Those that want to check out the global entries which include ads featuring everything from zombies to weird middle aged women in jumpsuits for Chevy’s Super Bowl XLVI ad can head over to the Chevrolet Route 66 website.
