Porsche marked an important milestone this week, with the 100,000th copy of its Panamera sports sedan rolling off the assembly line. The Panamera is built at the automaker's facility in Leipzig, Germany.

U.S. sales have accounted for about 25 percent of all Panameras built so far – since the car went on sale in 2009, Porsche has sold a total of 25,366 Panameras in the States through April of 2013. So far, the car's best year in the U.S. was 2010, when 7741 copies were sold; however, 2012 only trailed by 127 units. 2011 saw 6879 Panameras finding homes, there were 1247 sold in the launch year of 2009, and 1885 have been moved from dealership lots so far this year.

The 100,000th Panamera also happened to be one of the newest models to join the Porsche lineup: it's a rhodium-silver metallic Panamera S E-Hybrid. The plug-in-hybrid variant made its debut last month at the Shanghai Motor Show, and combines a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor to create a net system output of 416 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. The S E-Hybrid is just one of the nine Panamera models Porsche now offers in the U.S. Base Panamera and Panamera 4 models use a 310-hp, 3.6-liter V-6; Panamera S and 4S variants add a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 good for 420 hp; the Panamera GTS' 4.8-liter V-8 produces 440 hp; and Panamera Turbo's twin-turbo V-8 tuned to 520 hp. Porsche also introduced 4S Executive and Turbo Executive variants that get extra 5.9-inch stretch in wheelbase length.

Just as there are engine variants to satiate every palette, there is pricing range of the Panamera stretches to fit most (well-heeled) wallets. The 2014 Panamera starts at $79,075, including destination. Prices rise as follows (all including destination):

  • - Panamera 4: $83,775
  • - Panamera S: $94,175
  • - Panamera S E-Hybrid: $99,975
  • - Panamera 4S: $99,275
  • - Panamera 4S Executive: $126,575
  • - Panamera GTS: $114,375
  • - Panamera Turbo: $142,275
  • - Panamera Turbo Executive: $162,075
