Pininfarina to Show Alfa Romeo Spider Concept at 2010 Geneva Motor show

2010 marks Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary, and to celebrate, the design firm plans on building a special Alfa Romeo concept car for the 2010 Geneva motor show.

Apart from a colorful sketch, Pininfarina’s sharing few details on the new concept. We do know the show car will be built off Alfa Romeo’s current Spider, which is largely a two-seat, convertible version of its Brera coupe. Unless Pininfarina decides to experiment with powertrain, we’d expect power -- produced by a turbocharged 1.8-liter I-4, a normally aspirated 2.2-liter I-4, or a 3.2-liter V-6 -- to be sent to the front wheels.

Given Pininfarina wants this concept to celebrate its past, present, and future, an Alfa Spider seems to be a natural choice. Pininfarina has a long-standing relationship with Alfa Romeo, and was responsible for designing the firm’s legendary 1966 “Duetto” Spider. Coincidentally, the concept will also be unveiled in time for Alfa Romeo to celebrate its centennial later this year…
