PhantomAlert Smartphone App Predicts Speed Traps, Prevents Citations

Automobile Staff

Before the advent of smartphones, you'd need an armful of gadgetry to beat the trials and travails of the daily commute. Now, a new app from PhantomAlert reduces the travails of obstacles vehicular and pedestrian, and obviates the need for a separate radar detector.

The app claims to be able to monitor speed traps, as well as alert drivers to any number of red light cameras, dangerous intersections, and safety enforcement areas. Additionally, the app also includes a link to local traffic cameras -- helpful before starting either a lengthy commute or a short drive.

A free trial of PhantomAlert, as well as a paid subscription, is currently available as an app for iPhone and Android phones, but a BlackBerry version is expected by the end of the month.
