Production of the wild Pagani Zonda supercar will soon come to an end, and the company will celebrate with a limited-edition model called the Zonda Revolucion. It is an evolution of the company's existing Zonda R, and is powered by a 6.0-liter Mercedes-AMG V-12 engine.
The engine has been tweaked to produce 800 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque, which is channeled to the rear wheels by way of a six-speed sequential transmission. The carbon fiber and titanium monocoque helps keep curb weight just below 2400 pounds.
The goal was to make the Revolucion even faster than the existing Zonda R, company founder Horacio Pagani said in a statement. "We knew that Pagani Zonda R was already a fast car, the fastest ever on the Nürburgring Nordschleife [the lap time was unofficial]. We knew it would be very difficult to design and build a car that was even more extreme. But thanks to the creativity of our designers, engineers, and the whole Pagani family, we created a beautiful object and the fastest Pagani vehicle ever."
Pagani also upgraded the car's brakes to the latest version of its CCMR carbon-ceramic system, which is said to be 15 percent lighter than before yet even better at dissipating heat during track use. Also new is a Formula 1-inspired Drag Reduction System rear wing. It can automatically adjust the level of downforce produced depending on the car's speed; the driver can manually override the wing setting by pushing a button on the steering wheel. The front and rear carbon-fiber spoilers have also been modified for better aerodynamic performance.
As for visual enhancements, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion has a central red stripe with white and yellow borders, yellow wheel lips, and stripes along each side of the car composed of white, yellow, and red accents.
The Pagani Zonda Revolucion costs the equivalent of $2.8 million before taxes, but will it truly be the last of the Zondas? Pagani has previously said it would end Zonda production to make way for the new Huayra model, but here we are, looking at a new Zonda variant…
