Only Top Chevy Dealers To Sell Corvette ZR1

Looking to waltz into your local Chevrolet dealership to pick up (or ogle) a new 2009 Corvette ZR1?; You may be out of luck: GM is limiting allocation of the cars to its top dealers.

Those dealers not only must move high volumes of product year-round, but also move a good number of Corvettes.; Given those qualifiers, only 338 stores - roughly a tenth of the 3932 Chevy retailers in the U.S. - made the cut to receive a ZR1.

Albeit placing a ZR1 front-and-center on the showroom floor may drive traffic to any dealer, it doesn't necessarily turn into a sale - particularly for the high-performance ZR1.; Base models in 1ZR trim start at $105,000 (including gas guzzler tax and destination), a hefty premium over other Corvette coupes.

If that weren't enough, dealers who stock ZR1s are also required to invest in training and service tools specially made for the car - an investment that may not be returned if a retailer plans to sell only one ZR1.
