Several manufacturers found room on their show stand for some of their greatest hits from the past.

Mercedes-Benz Tucked in behind the new SL63 AMG, Mercedes had a 1980 450SL. This blast from the past was painted a perfectly period malaise-era tobacco brown with a tan interior and the optional hard top. The list of specs is a sign of just how far the SL has come: 4.5-liter V-8, 160 hp, 230 lb-ft, 3-speed automatic, 3615 lbs, 112 mph, and 0-60 in 11.5 seconds.

BMW Considering how BMW is trying to pitch its new 1-series as the spiritual reincarnation of the 2002, it's no surprise that the company had a classic 2002 on display at New York. The pristine 1972 2002, in orange, is the high-performance tii model, and is owned by racing legend Bobby Rahal.

Porsche Porsche won the unofficial contest for the coolest vintage car. To coincide with the U.S. debut of its RS 60 Boxster, the company showed the car's racing namesake, a 1960 Porsche RS-60. The car has an air-cooled, 1.7-liter flat 4 that makes 170 hp (at 7800 rpm), which was enough to win the 1960 Targa Florio.
