Novitec’s Alfa Romeo 8C Sports 600 Supercharged Horsepower

There's little room for improvement when it comes to the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider's appearance, but there's apparently a way to improve its performance. German tuner Novitec -- yes, the same firm you've seen tune a number of different Ferrari, Maserati, and Fiat products -- recently whipped up a supercharged version of the 8C Spider that's allegedly the fastest street-legal example built to date.

As it stands, the Ferrari-designed (and Ferrari-built) 4.7-liter V-8 used in the 8C (and a handful of Maserati products) produces a respectable 450 hp. Novitec then bolts on a supercharger -- similar to the one used in Novitec's tuned Maserati GranCabrio Sport -- and fits new fuel injectors, a revised intercooler, and a tweaked ECU to bump that power up to a whopping 600. Easy, enough, right? In theory, yes, considering the 8C and GranCabrio Sport share common engine designs, but Novitec noted it needed to whittle down the supercharger's shape in order to fit it under the 8C's slinky hood.

Novitec saw no need to drastically revamp the Alfa’s beautiful bodywork, and opted instead  to emphasize the 8C’s form by adding three-piece carbon-fiber wheels (measuring 21 inches in front and 22 inches in back), each wrapped in high-performance Pirelli rubber (sizes sizes 255/30 ZR 21 and 315/25 ZR 22). Additionally, a height-adjustable threaded coil-over suspension is reportedly calibrated to those grippy Pirelli tires.

Pricing isn't provided, but as is often the case with Novitec's creations, the total sticker price often reflects just how many options and custom features you add on to the car. On a budget? We'd reccomend skipping the customized leather and Alcantara interior decor...
