Nissan Unveils 370Z GT Edition to Mark 40 Years of Z Cars in Europe

To celebrate the passing of 40 years since the launch of the Nissan Z line in Europe (it bowed in Japan and North American 1969), Nissan is introducing a commemorative 370Z GT Edition. The key distinction is the addition of gray GT Edition racing stripes on the lower body sides.

To contrast with the stripes, GT Edition cars are offered only in white, black, or the package-exclusive Black Rose. The 19-inch Rays-branded wheels wear a dark-anthracite finish. Because Nissan believes European drivers travel at higher speeds than those in certain other markets, the GT Edition also receives minor suspension tweaks. Primarily, the dampers were retuned to provide a more comfortable ride and to ensure high-speed stability.

Other minor tweaks for the European 370Z include the addition of a tire-pressure monitoring system and extra underbody sound insulation. The GT Edition hits dealers on June 1 and costs £35,000 in the U.K. (about $56,500). The car won’t be coming to American shores, as we already had our 40th Anniversary 370Z for model-year 2010. On its home turf, Nissan dished out the Fairlady Z 40th Anniversary in late 2009.
