Next-Gen Honda Accord Snapped with Exposed Roofline

The debut of the next-generation Honda Accord is around the corner, and the folks at Motor Trend have just snapped a test vehicle. We’re still crossing our fingers that the new Accord will resemble the Concept C sedan from the Beijing show, but it might be too early to tell from the spy photos.

This Honda Accord tester is heavily camouflaged, but the roof and windows are fully exposed. That said, it doesn’t appear to share the Concept C’s coupe-like profile nor its sharp, pointed finish behind the rear door. In their place are a more traditional roofline and window treatment that's similar to the one on the current model. We hope the camo is hiding styling cues that are bolder than the conservative Honda Accord, which is a bit conservative, though we're not counting on it.

If the Honda Accord Coupe Concept is any indication, the new model won’t look much different from what we see now. The grille peeking out through the camo might just resemble that of the Honda Crosstour concept, which previews the production-spec 2013 Crosstour design. Honda Accord fans can at least expect changes under the hood. First, a new 2.4-liter, four-banger should get direct injection with a total output of at least 181 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5-liter V-6 will get a bump in power and will use a new six-speed automatic while the four-cylinder car will get a new CVT. Finally, Honda will try its luck once again with a hybrid-powered Accord, but this time around it will be a plug-in variant that combines a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder gas engine and a 120-kW electric motor.
