We've been wondering why Alfa Romeo has taken so long to make its U.S. comeback, and now we know why: the Italian brand has been too busy making movies in Hollywood. In the upcoming "Fast & Furious 6" movie, the Giulietta will star in one of the franchise's signature stunts.
Just when you thought the film's stunts couldn't get any more ridiculous than the two Dodge Chargers dragging a vault through the streets in "Fast Five", the sixth installment turns it up a notch with the Giulietta disembarking from a cargo plane during takeoff. The Giuliettas aren't anything like the hot hatch models on sale in Europe, as they were modified inside and out for the movie. The Euro-spec Giulietta is available with an assortment of engines including a 1.4-liter turbocharged Multiair engine and 2.0-liter turbodiesel coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. Although we're eagerly anticipating Alfa's revival in the States with the 4C, it's unclear when the Giulietta will arrive in the U.S.
The film opens in American theaters on May 24, but the Giulietta is already appearing on the silver screen in television ads in Italy, which will soon be shown in other countries.
