New Audi A6 Allroad Revealed, Likely a Europe-Only Special - Do You Want It?

#Audi, #A6

Now that the A4 allroad has had its chance to shine, Audi is pulling the wraps off the new A6 allroad, which is based off the Europe-only A6 Avant wagon. Audi sold the first-gen A6 allroad in the States back in the early 2000s, but the following second-gen model never made it here. Though we won’t see this new third-gen model on our shores either, we will be getting the smaller A4 allroad later this year.

Like the A4 allroad, the A6 allroad will ride on a higher stance, 2.4 inches higher than the normal A6 Avant. Engine choices include a 3.0-liter, supercharged 310-hp V-6, and three versions of the 3.0-liter TDI engine producing 204, 245, or 313 hp. All engines are mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic except the range-topping 313-hp TDI, which gets an eight-speed auto. And thanks to direct injection and start/stop technology, the engines are up to 20 percent more fuel efficient, too. Additionally, the A6 allroad features an advanced Quattro all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring for improved handling on curves.

Visual differences are similar to what we’ll see in the A4 allroad, which means it’ll get wider, contrasting fender flares; a unique body kit; and “allroad” badges. The A6 allroad will also get an exclusive Java Braun paint color and allroad-specific black carpeting.

With the A4 allroad already on the way, do you think Americans would buy the larger A6 version? Let us know what you think in the comments section.

I just ordered a 2013 Allroad and even though I liked it more than several other vehicles I looked at (Volvo XC60, Range Rover Evoque, etc.) I still wanted the larger A6 based Offroad with more HP, more space and the air suspension. If Audi does bring the A6 based Allroad to the states I will be pissed, but I will probably trade my A4 Allroad in to get what I really wanted from the beginning. That's just me.
I had a 2001 allroad and loved it. It is highly sought after in used car market so there are Americans buyers who appreciate it. Maybe Audi should bring back the allroad and trust that American buyers also can appreciate an enhanced saloon. Don't forget to keep the air suspension as standard package!

For years, I have wanted to see these diesel engines in a small or mid-size SUV...the a6 allroad (or even the A4 allroad would fill the bill nicely...if not in the Q5 or Q3.
