The results are in for the SRT Viper Color Contest, and online voters have determined that the 2014 SRT Viper’s new glossy blue exterior paint will hereafter be officially known as “Competition Blue.” The contest offered Viper fanatics the opportunity to submit original ideas for naming a new blue paint job for the 2014 SRT Viper. The SRT team narrowed the field down to three finalists and put the decision to a public online vote from November 4-11.
Viper enthusiast Patrick Skarzynski of Chicago is the lucky winner, and was the first contestant to submit “Competition Blue” as an entry. Skarzynski’s color name was one of three finalists selected from over 11,000 entries. The other two finalists were “Viral Blue” and “Overtaking Blue.”
“This contest demonstrates just how strong and vocal the SRT and Viper community is; to receive more than 11,000 entries was rewarding. This contest was created for our brand loyalists to make them a part of SRT history,” said SRT President and CEO Ralph Gilles. “We’re looking forward to seeing Competition Blue drape the skin of the 2014 SRT Viper.”
In addition to cementing his name in Viper history, Skarzynski will get the chance to experience the 2014 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona this January, courtesy of Chrysler/SRT. During the trip he’ll get the opportunity to meet the SRT design team and pick their brains about the 2014 SRT Viper and its “Competition Blue” paint.
Then unnamed, SRT’s “Competition Blue” paint was most recently on display at the a SRT Viper GTS which was on display at the Mopar exhibition of last month’s 2013 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
The 2014 SRT Viper, hand-built with a 640-hp 8.4-liter V-10 engine, is also available in other flashy colors like Black Venom, Adrenaline Red, and Gunmetal Pearl. Pricing for the 2014 SRT Viper starts at $104,480 including destination fees.
