Name This New 2014 SRT Viper Paint Color

#SRT, #Viper

Good news: the 2014 SRT Viper has a new blue paint color option. Bad news: that color doesn’t have a name. Even better news: if you happen to name it, you might find yourself taking in all the action at the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Although the 2014 SRT Viper is already offered in a new GTS-R Blue Pearl, which replaced the 2013 Shadow Blue Pearl paint, this new shade of bleu is an all-new hue. Chrysler says the new color is a solid, glossy, non-metallic shade, and from what we can see by playing with the 2014 SRT Viper’s online configuration tool, the new color – presently referred to as “no-name blue” is far lighter and brighter than the other blue.

Why the proverbial name game? “The SRT Viper Color Contest gives our Viper enthusiasts an opportunity to be original, creative and contribute to the exterior design of our flagship American supercar,” Ralph Gilles, SRT brand president, said in a prepared release. “Already available in a wide array of exterior color combinations, which provides our owners a way to personalize their cars, this contest is a great way for our dedicated fans to connect with the SRT brand and become an authentic part of Viper history.”

They’ll also become a part of Daytona history. The creator of the winning name will receive a trip for two to the 2014 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in late January, courtesy of Chrysler/SRT. Better yet, they’ll also have a chance to meet and interact with the Viper design team who birthed both the car and this new blue.

Entries are being accepted at www.drivesrt.com/colorcontest through October 24. Three finalists will be selected within Chrysler’s ranks, but an ultimate winner will be decided by way of online voting, which will be open to the public from November 4-11.

In other 2014 SRT Viper news, pricing for the hand-built sports coupe has increased ever so slightly. A “base” 2014 SRT Viper now starts at $104,480, including a $1995 destination charge. That’s roughly $2490 more than the 2013 model, a change attributed to the inclusion of additional standard equipment. 2014 Viper GTS models see their price tag increase by $1990 to $124,985, excluding destination. The new-for-2014 SRT Viper TA, an even more hardcore twist on the already hardcore Viper, carries a base price of $118,485, a $16,000 premium over a normal 2014 SRT Viper coupe.
