Mitsubishi has released new images of the Concept G4, a car whose name stands for global four-door sedan. Debuting at the Shanghai auto show later this month, the G4 could preview a Mirage sedan to follow the hatch that debuted in New York.
The Concept G4 features bold diamond-cut design cues in the headlights, grille, and taillights. Mitsubishi says the Concept G4’s short front overhang improves forward visibility and maneuverability, while the proportions balance interior space with aerodynamics.
Like the Mirage hatchback the Concept G4 is powered by a 1.2-liter I-3 mated to a standard five-speed manual or available CVT. Mitsubishi claims the G4 will offer class-leading fuel economy thanks to its efficient powertrain and lightweight body made from lots of high-strength steel. The low curb weight is also said to offer agile driving dynamics, while still offering a stable and a comfortable ride.
Mitsubishi will also show the Concept CA-MiEV at Shanghai, which previews the direction of the next i-MiEV model. Will the addition of a sedan body style as well as the new styling broaden the appeal of the Mitsubishi Mirage in the U.S.? Share your thoughts below.
