Mercedes-Benz AMG cars and Cigarette Racing boats are known for their performance (on land and sea, respectively). The two legendary performance brands have now teamed up to create a custom Cigarette Racing boat, reportedly inspired by the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
Cigarette Racing gives little information about the project, but says with more than 100 innovations, it will be one of the most advanced boats the company has ever built. The hull will utilize a lightweight composite (presumably fiberglass) design optimized to provide a balance of a smooth ride and high-speed stability. Cigarette Racing says the AMG Cigarette Boat will also feature numerous technology advancements, from the paints to the electronics and power plant.
While Cigarette Racing doesn’t give any specifications on the engine or horsepower output of the boat, we’re told it will be “AMG inspired,” and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a modified form of the SLS AMG’s 6.2-liter V-8 used in the boat. Cigarette does say the boat will use twin-staggered powerplants, so we’d expect two of the engines mounted in back, likely pumping out more than 1000 hp total. The company claims the 42-ft long boat will be capable of more than 120 mph.
The AMG Cigarette Racing boat will be unveiled this February at the Miami International Boat Show in Miami, Florida. The boat will be revealed on the opening day, February 11, and will be on display until the show closes on February 15.
