More Super Bowl XLV Commercials Surface

Earlier this week we previewed a few of the 2011 Super Bowl advertisements, but as the Big Game approaches even more of the ads are surfacing. Take a minute and enjoy some of the latest spots from Audi, Chevrolet, Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Suzuki, and Volkswagen.

Audi: Taking direct aim at its German luxury competitors, Audi is challenging watchers to step outside the norm and give its products a closer look. The pair of advertisements depicts fictional luxury prisons, where the wealthy are placed for excessive acts of opulence. One spot dubbed Startled Straight shows older incarcerated people sharing their stories with wealthy youth in the hopes of steering them down a different path. The other features Kenny G as a prison guard, tapped to play his tunes to settle riots.

Chevrolet: As an official sponsor of Sunday’s festivities, Chevrolet will have its name said and plastered nearly everywhere, but its advertisements will also be featured throughout the game. A main focus for the automaker is its new Camaro, which will be featured in two commercials. The first features an innocent-looking coupe at a fictional Chevy dealership. When provoked by the dealerships mascot the car comes to life as Bumble Bee from the Transformers movies. The other commercial is narrated by a couple of guys dreaming up their ideal Camaro commercial. The ad stars a young woman who has a rather adventurous drive to work – as a teacher. Chevy's remaining commercials focus on the Silverado HD pickup and the Cruze compact sedan.

Mercedes- Benz: Having just celebrated its 125-year anniversary, Mercedes will feature a spot with many vehicles from its current and past lineups. Mercedes released a teaser of Sunday’s ad, which includes a camel, snow, and the desert. The full commercial marks the debut of the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster and 2012 C-Class AMG Coupe, along with the 2012 CLS63 AMG and 2012 SLK; a director's cut of the ad airing this weekend is up on M-B USA's Facebook page.

Volkswagen: Teasing us earlier this week, VW released the full commercials it plans to air on Sunday. Continuing to taunt us with its 2012 Beetle, the first ad illustrates a real beetle with stripes painted on its back racing through the woods, similar to rally-style racing. The second commercial thrusts its upcoming 2012 Passat into living rooms across America, with the automaker’s spot featuring a tie-in with immensely-popular Star Wars franchise. A young child dressed as Darth Vader uses “the force” to try and make things happen. With no luck, apparently “the force” isn’t quite strong enough with the youngster, until a 2012 Passat arrives that is. Check out the clip to find out just what we mean.

Kia: Rather than simply showing a commercial during the Super Bowl, Kia is paring the spot with an interactive web game. Along with its “One Epic Ride” ad slated to air during the game, its “One Epic Contest” offers five new Optimas up for grabs to those who answer all the questions correctly and solve the final puzzle. The contest runs through February 6. Don’t miss the epic commercial below.

Suzuki: For the first time in its history, Suzuki will join the party with an advertisement during this year’s game. The spot features all-wheel-drive Kizashi evading an attack by angry snowmen. The Kizashi helped Suzuki to January sales of an industry-beating 26-percent sales increase.
