Memo to all left lane drivers: MOVE

Damn You, Tempo!

If you've ever driven in Europe--or more specifically, the autobahn--then you understand why this is so important. Thankfully, www.driverightpassleft.com is there to educate those that haven't.

It's important because we want to go freaking fast, that's why!

Seriously, we're usually law-abiding citizens when it comes to the speed limit (OK, maybe almost law-abiding), and nothing grinds our gears like left-lane squatters. In our opinion, lane discipline allows traffic to flow easier and makes everyone's commutes safer.

Check out www.driverightpassleft.com the scoop on laws in your state, and maybe grab a bumper sticker or two while you're there. We need to spread the word!

(And if you're one of those people who sits merrily in the left-lane with an empty lane to your right--at any speed--MOVE OVER. WE'RE NOT FLASHING OUR LIGHTS BECAUSE WE THINK IT LOOKS PRETTY.)

I like the "unspoken rule" for drivers going between Nevada and California. Because there's only two lanes, all slower vehicles move into the slow one and leave the fast one alone unless you have to pass. But out here in SoCal, most folks stay in their lane regardless of their speed or, worse, treat the freeways as their personal Indie's track. Maybe we should mandate some electronic do-hickey that tells the driver, "get out of this lane. You have 40 cars trying to pass your 30 mph in a 65 mph butt."

Amen.
