Here's what we know so far: McLaren Automotive is looking to build on its success with the MP4-12C by adding another model to the family. We know that this model will bow at the Paris Motor show later this month, and we're pretty sure that it'll be a true successor to the vaunted F1. While this video from McLaren doesn't tell us anything else in this video, it does hint at what this hypercar will look like.
In true McLaren fashion, the preview isn't just a CGI quick look, or an executive standing in front of a veiled model and pulling the cloth up a few inches with a smirk on his face. It's an HDTV monitor, mounted on a motorized camera rig, moving fore and aft like a printer cartridge while a camera, mounted on another track, moves left to right and captures the image coming off of the screen. What we can see in the crazy, shooting stars-style video, shows a shape likely inspired by the MP4-12C but hiding much more power underhood. We've long heard that the final product could be called the P12 (the MP12, perhaps?), but that's still anyone's guess.
We'll find out exactly what the car is (and what it will do) later this month at the Paris Motor Show. In the meantime, check out the video and let us know what your predictions are for the new car.
