The 24 Hours of Le Mans showcases some of the most advanced cars in the world, and this year it will be the venue for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Mazda MX-5.
Piloting a Mazda Miata MX-5 is one of the best experiences one can have driving an automobile. It’s an inexpensive roadster that isn’t meant to be brutally fast. It’s meant to handle like a dream – and it does. The roadster celebrates its 20th anniversary this year under a modified name, simply the MX-5.
Mazda chose the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the venue to celebrate the anniversary because of the brand’s involvement in the sport. Mazda supplies three LMP2 class teams with engines. The celebration also gives MX-5 fans the chance to witness the world famous race live.
Those wishing to attend the event are encouraged to contact their national MX-5 club or visit the Mazda France website. Complete packages are available from just €100 ($139) including a place for the attendees’ car, an anniversary shirt, a rally plate, dinner and breakfast, and a campsite at an exclusive Mazda Camp bordering the circuit. Of course you’re on your own for booking a flight…
Mazda’s 20th anniversary celebration of its cult roadster takes place June 13-14 during the famous French endurance race.
