There's a new sales leader in the midsize segment thanks to 39,216 customers who purchased the Toyota Camry. Meanwhile, Honda sold 33,218 Accords, which puts it in the number-two spot.

The third-place Nissan Altima and fourth-place Ford Fusion swapped positions, with 31,950 and 29,553 units sold respectively. The Chevrolet Malibu slid, moving to sixth place with 18,899 sales. As we recently reported, a refreshed Malibu is slated to arrive in showrooms this fall, sporting a mildly new look and slight improvements to power and efficiency. That said, the Hyundai Sonata moves up a spot to fifth place with 20, 194 units sold.

Taking seventh and eighth place are the Kia Optima and Chrysler 200 with 15,368 and 13,278 units sold, respectively. Next, the Dodge Avenger (10,691 sold) fell slightly, but the Volkswagen Passat showed a sales bump with 10,297 units sold. The Subaru Legacy and Mazda6 round off the list with 4430 and 3944 units sold; both numbers represent an improvement compared to April.
