Sergio Marchionne told reporters during an investor meeting in Turin, Italy today that Maserati is working on a BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class fighter. Marchionne also promised a "new special series Enzo," but didn't elaborate.

New Ferrari products begin with the drop-top Spyder version of its 458 Italia, due to launch in 2011. Also tentatively scheduled for the same year is an all-new replacement for the 612 Scaglietti. It isn't known what name this car -- codenamed F151 -- will wear when it reaches production, but sources suggest it could potentially be offered with the hybrid driveline first shown in the 599 HyKers concept.

Although an all-new 599 GTB Fiorano is due in 2012, it will possibly be overshadowed by the arrival of a successor to the Enzo. Little is known about the car, but it will likely continue to use a V-12 for motive power.

2013 will bring both a facelifted California (dubbed the California M), and a hardcore version of the 458. We wouldn't be surprised if the latter continues to use the Scuderia nameplate, like the current 430 Scuderia.

Maserati also is at work on a new Quattroporte, Marchionne said, and will continue with the Gran Turismo and Gran Cabrio. He says that Ferrari and Maserati will diverge, with more brand distinction during the next five years.
