Do you have an affinity for fast cars and Barney the Friendly Dinosaur? If so, Lexus may have just the one-off car for you: this one-off Black Amethyst LFA, which the automaker showed off this week on its Facebook page.
What makes this LFA special is that it is painted a deep purple hue called Black Amethyst. That hue is a special-order color, and to date, it this is the only example ordered for the U.S. market. Apart from the paint job, though, this is simply your typical, run-of-the-mill, base LFA coupe.
A base Lexus LFA is nothing to sneeze at, however. The supercar is powered by a 4.8-liter V-10 engine rated at 553 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque; that power is routed to the rear wheels through a six-speed automated sequential gearbox. Lexus quotes a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. The LFA's body is constructed of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer, with the carbon fiber spun on a bespoke loom built by Toyota specifically for the LFA project. Pricing for the "base" LFA starts at $375,875 including destination, but Lexus is only building 20 cars per month, and all of them are built-to-order.
This isn't the first time that we've seen a crazy-colored LFA – the limited-run Nürburgring Edition was shown in a retina-searing shade of yellow, and we spotted a mysterious bright teal LFA prototype testing on the 'Ring last month.
