A Brazilian website specializing in Hot Wheels toy cars has released a photo of what is claimed to be the 2013 SRT Viper -- in toy form. A post from T-Hunted.com shows an assortment of new Hot Wheels miniature cars, including the new Chrysler Group supercar.
Although the image that purports to show the 2013 SRT Viper is small and low-resolution, we can get a basic look at the car's shape. There is a long hood (which is rumored to house a 650-hp 8.7-liter V-10 engine), big wheels with intersecting spokes that recall those on past Vipers, a large lower air intake, and two small scoops at the front of the car's hood. We now think that the teaser photo released earlier this week shows an up-close look at the aforementioned hood scoops. Overall, the model's silhouette and basic proportions closely match those of previous Dodge Vipers.
Officials at Chrysler won't confirm whether this blurry image bears any resemblance to the new Viper; SRT spokesman Dan Reid simply told us to wait until the car's official debut at the New York auto show on April 4.
In addition to this purported Hot Wheels model and the hood-scoop teaser, we've previously seen the new snake-inspired emblem for the 2013 SRT Viper, as well as a dark teaser photo showing the car's front end as a line drawing.
What do you think: is this our first peek at the production 2013 SRT Viper, or just wishful thinking from a designer of children's toys? Have your say in the comments section below.
