Leaked! 2013 Jaguar F-Type Slips Out Before Paris Debut

After much teasing, we have our first look at the all-new 2013 Jaguar F-Type roadster, and boy is it a looker.

Unsurprisingly, the 2013 F-Type looks almost identical to the C-X16 concept that debuted at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The primary difference between the production and concept cars is the lack of roof: the F-Type is making its debut as a roadster first, with a coupe model to follow later. Also, the side-view mirrors are a more usable size, rather than the slim ones found on the C-X16 concept.

Jaguar confirmed earlier this year that we would see the production-ready F-Type roadster at the Paris Motor Show, which opens next week. We already had a pretty good idea on what to expect from the new sporty droptop – the prototypes used by the automaker had minimal camouflage and clearly did not stray far from the C-X16 concept. The F-Type looks similar to other modern Jaguars with a large rectangular grille, flared haunches, and a cropped tail. The headlights sweep up the front fenders and are adorned with J-shaped LED running lights. Small fender vents have been lifted straight off the concept, although we can't tell if they'll share the red LED lighting that the C-X16's vents had.

Jaguar has also detailed the range of powertrains that will be used by the F-Type. The base engine will be the same 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 recently added to the XF and XJ sedans, tuned in the F-Type to somewhere between 340 hp and 380 hp. The F-Type R pictured here will most likely use a version of the brand's 5.0-liter V-8 tuned to a hearty 510 hp. Expect an even more powerful F-Type R-S to join the lineup at a later date, churning 550 hp out of the supercharged eight-cylinder, and a more fuel-efficient model utilizing the 240-hp turbo-four from the Range Rover Evoque. All F-Type engines will utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission that incorporates auto start/stop.
