Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Debuts on Naval Aircraft Carrier

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is not your average car. In fact, with its 750-hp 6.5-liter V-12, 2.9 second sprint from 0-62 mph, and 221 mph top speed, we’d say it practically oozes sex appeal and exoticism.  It comes as no surprise, of course, that the extreme Lamborghini Veneno Roadster made its public debut in an equally extreme location -- on the Italian naval aircraft carrier Nave Cavour docked in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed port.

Guests at the hypercar’s unveiling on the 240-foot vessel included the rich, famous, and lavishly-titled, the latter category of which was positively championed by His Excellency Giorgio Starace, Italian Ambassador to the UAE, and Paolo Treu, Admiral of the High Seas Forces. Chef Corrado Corti from the famous Hotel Splendido (not a joke) in Portofino flew to Abu Dhabi specifically for the event, which was also attended by singer and actress Elena Bonelli, who opened the ceremony with the Italian national anthem. If the fighter-jet-styled Lamborghini Veneno Roadster did not look enough at home on an aircraft carrier, ten top Italian fashion models were present wearing the best of designer Giada Curti’s creations to help complete the experience.

“The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is one of the world’s most exclusive cars with the most extraordinary performance,” said Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “We are honored that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the UAE…Lamborghini has an extremely strong following in the region for its super sports cars, with the Middle East one of our largest markets in the world.”

Just nine Lamborghini Veneno Roadster models will be sold, which makes it an extremely rare collector’s car. At roughly $4.5 million before taxes, it’s also one of the most expensive.
